Achieving the best performance in data management is vital for the good development of a hotel, since order, efficiency and response time are fundamental when offering a good service.
by Motorola Solutions
One of the most important and recognized hotel and restaurant chains in Mexico today offers excellent quality wireless interconnection services in three of its main headquarters to provide a better experience to its guests and internal users.
The renowned Presidente InterContinental Hotel chain chose for Mexico a complete wireless network (WLAN) solution from Motorola Solutions, Inc. to communicate and provide network connection in the more than 1,300 rooms that add up to the complexes of Mexico City, Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.
As a result of a vision of technological modernization, the hotel chain also implemented a wine selection system, which intelligently offers real-time information on the largest cellar in Latin America, located inside the Hotel Presidente InterContinental Mexico City.
Through 18 Motorola MC5040 mobile terminals, the sommeliers offer varied wine options to the most demanding diners in the restaurants: Palm®, Alfredo di Roma®, Au Pied de Cochon® and Zhen Shanghai®, with information on each wine, as well as carrying out a meticulous control of the inventory in stock.
Implementation and technology challenges
Initially, wireless Internet service to guests was outsourced to a third party; which made it difficult to manage and control, with deficiencies in the quality of service to guests and levels of security of the network, as well as significant limitations to take advantage of the infrastructure in internal benefits in addition to the care staff, who did not have access to this network.
After the selection of Motorola Solutions as a provider of wireless solutions and the implementation and integration of Grupo Oxten in just 3 months, Hoteles Presidente InterContinental completed this project in well-defined stages that allowed continuous internet service to guests and the use of existing wiring to optimize resources.
The development of an interface with the hotel's administration systems allowed to expand the capacity to manage user registrations and cancellations automatically, as well as to offer ranges of wireless Internet use time by the hour, day or week to individuals or groups.
Likewise, it allowed to add added value and business in special or private events when connection is required with the possibility of generating a virtual network with service levels and different bandwidths temporarily.
The distribution and implementation of Motorola Solutions technology, integrated into maintenance services, configuration and design of implementation software was as follows:
All 3 hotels
- Hotel Ciudad de México: Motorola RFS7000 main wireless equipment and RFS7000 backup with 170 Access Ports type antennas.
- Hotel Ciudad de Guadalajara: Motorola RFS7000 main equipment and RFS7000 backup with 115 Access Ports antennas.
- Hotel Puerto Vallarta: Motorola RFS7000 main equipment and RFS7000 backup with 13 Access Ports antennas
Benefits achieved
Motorola Solutions' Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) solution reported sustainable cost reductions and customer satisfaction due to improvements in connectivity services.
The staff within the Hotel allowed better control of tasks, assets and management with a mobility approach. Additionally, Hoteles Presidente Intercontinental developed internally an advanced application for the management of hot spots, with real-time interfaces.
