International. The International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) has joined UL Research Institutes' Chemical Insights Research Institute (CIRI ), a chemical safety and environmental health research body, in a strategic partnership to expand knowledge about healthy indoor environments.
CIRI will provide content including research and educational resources such as e-learning, podcasts, articles, presentations, and webinars for the IFMA Knowledge Library, which serves more than 24,000 facilities professionals. The two organizations are also considering joint marketing promotion opportunities and research collaborations.
"Both IFMA and CIRI recognize that a greater focus on sustainable practices to ensure healthy environments both indoors and outdoors is a priority now or never. Our organizations share a deep respect for industry research as an essential requirement for understanding existing and emerging expectations for the profession. CIRI's analysis and insights will help guide facilities management professionals toward decisions that result in reduced risk and increased safety for our facilities," said IFMA President and CEO Don Gilpin.
IFMA established its Strategic Partner Partnerships program in 2021 to provide built environment professionals with a single source of interdisciplinary skills development training offered by the industry's most respected and influential organizations. The program offers specialized training opportunities that address a variety of mission-critical functions and cover the entire operational lifecycle of the built environment.
"CIRI's knowledge and research will enable thousands of IFMA members to operate and maintain their facilities as the best in occupant health and wellness," said Marilyn Black, Ph.D., CIRI's vice president and senior technical advisor. "One of the first collaborations between CIRI and IFMA will define practical steps to achieve healthy air during wildfires."
