Within the real estate sector, pressure to act on behalf of the environment continues to mount. In fact, 37% of global energy-related CO₂ emissions come from commercial buildings. Fortunately, an encouraging 58.3% of owners and managers consider it crucial to achieve carbon neutrality. These figures reflect concrete plans in place. Smart construction, which once seemed like it belonged to futuristic scenarios, is becoming a tangible reality. Current strategies that improve the livability of spaces are playing a key role in the transition to modern, sustainable buildings. According to Neove Pipper, general manager of Honeywell Building Technologies for Latin America, "creating a technological environment that makes buildings smarter, safer, more sustainable and more productive is not just a dream, it is a conviction that drives our work." - Publicidad - Affordability is the top hurdle for 88% of industry executives, according to a survey conducted by Honeywell and Reuters. Although solutions to reduce carbon emissions may require significant investment, spreading this expense over several years as an operating expense, rather than an upfront investment, can be an effective strategy for owners. In addition, landlords are sharing carbon and energy reduction costs with tenants through green leasing practices. These agreements allow for collaboration on efficiency and sustainability practices, offering incentives such as cost recovery and minimum efficiency standards.
