Chairman Bill Gates and President of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division Robbie Bach unveiled several new services and partnerships, including agreements with Disney-ABC Television Group, NBC Universal and Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM). that demonstrate how software is improving the ability for people to connect with their own content and preferred communities through new and expanded modes of entertainment.Gates outlined his vision for the next Digital Decade – an era where dramatic advances in hardware and software will ensure that the power of computers is an inextricable part of everyday life. people interact with each other. High-definition experiences will be almost everywhere. Devices connected to services running through the Web and the immense storage capacities available through the Internet will make the information and functions people want instantly available. and natural, no matter where you are.

An example of the future of the next decade is the joint announcement between Microsoft and NBC Universal, who will set a new standard in live and on-demand internet broadcasts through an exclusive agreement whereby Microsoft and NBC will offer NBCOlympics.com on MSN as the official online home in the US for the Olympic Games of Summer 2008 to be held in Beijing.
