      Details     01 March 2016          ![](https://www.gerenciadeedificios.com/images/stories/GDE/sustentabilidadelsalvador.jpg)*El Salvador.*  The Salvadoran Government launched the National Council for Environmental Sustainability and Vulnerability (Conasav), with the aim of reaching and signing short, medium and long-term agreements and commitments in environmental areas.

The presentation of Conasav and the swearing-in of its members was in charge of Salvadoran President Salvador Sánchez Cerén, who said that the creation of the council is part of his Government's commitment to promote the capacity of the country, communities and cities to face climate change.

The president explained that, with this new organization, "adaptation plans will be built that strengthen growth and prosperity in a sustained manner, through dialogue and concertation" between various sectors of society.

"The creation of Conasav has a special meaning, because it is directly related to life, to the preservation of our environment, to ensuring our natural resources for present and future generations, and to taking action against the effects of climate change," he said.
