However, the Internet of Things (IoT) is not yet up in the air but has already become a reality. According to knx Association, for some time now, the KNX standard has been part of this global IoT world. By introducing KNX Web Services (KNX IoT 1.0) KNX underlines its position and opens up new ways in the operation and visualization of KNX systems. IoT has long found its form in almost every area of life, including building automation. Global players such as Google or Aple penetrated this market of the future and try to emphasize their philosophy of smart buildings through connectable products. KNX has been a 'thing' in ioT for a long time. Since the beginning of KNX technology, IT has IoT features. KNX devices can be physical objects that are clearly identifiable and capable of exchanging data. TP, RF, PL and IP media take care of the connectivity network. Therefore, KNX is itself the Internet of Things. Among other main features in addition to this decentralized and organized bus system, are the compatibility of the devices and the possibility of communicating with others. This assures installers a high degree of availability. However, it requires the technical expertise of installers combined with the effort for parameterization. This is not, as a rule, a problem for KNX installers but it is already a fact for IT experts. Standardization does not exist. If someone tries to access from the internet world to the KNX thing, that is, building automation, in a simple way, it has to be opened. - Publicidad - KNX Association has recognized this weather trend and developed the corresponding solution: KNX Web Services (KNX IoT 1.0). Web services are autonomous modular software components that can be described, published and activated via the web. They are usually used by applications and not by people.
