The business consortium Edificios Cero Energía registered the first building to apply in Mexico and Latin America for the NZEB (Net Zero Energy Building) certification, which will be built within the Arboleda development, in the metropolitan area of Monterrey, Nuevo León. Buildings that aspire to this certification must demonstrate during their first year of operation a zero energy balance, that is, that all the energy they use is fully compensated by energy generated on site and in a renewable way. To achieve the certification, Edificios Cero Energía -integrated by companies and entities such as Bioconstrucción, Carrier, Cemex, the Mario Molina Center, Citibanamex and WRI Mexico- allied with the investment platform Capital Natura, who will be responsible for the construction of the property. Arboleda, where the aspiring building will be built, is one of the main developments of Capital Natural. It is a residential, commercial and office urban villa. - Publicidad - Edificios Cero Energía was created in 2016 by the Private Sector Studies Commission for Sustainable Development (Cespedes) with the aim of consolidating a replicable model of zero energy balance buildings.
