      Details     15 August 2013          ![Hospitales europeos tercerizan servicios no asistenciales](https://www.gerenciadeedificios.com/images/stories/GDE/Hospitales-europeos-tercerizan-servicios-no-asistenciales-w.jpg)Due to the transfer of headquarters that will have the Health Complex of Toledo, Spain, to a much larger space, the Minister of Health and Social Affairs of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, José Ignacio Echániz, commented that the management corresponding to non-care services will be reduced.

Such services include cleaning, maintenance, laundry and food. The budget allocated to these tasks will be reduced by more than eight million euros (about US$10 million).

Taking into account the total period that the concession will last, 30 years, the savings are estimated at about 240 million euros, (about US$300 million).

As explained by Echániz, the concessionaire company that takes charge of the construction of the new hospital, chosen through a public tender, will also be responsible for providing these services "and having a greater volume of work and making use of the synergies between all the services and the greater scope of them can reduce prices by an average of 20%".

The official stressed the importance of "whoever builds is responsible for the maintenance, replacements and use of the building throughout the useful life." For example, if the air conditioning equipment is damaged and has no repair, the repocision must be done by the concessionaire company.

The outsourcing of the management of non-care services, such as cleaning, maintenance or catering, is done in all hospitals in both Spain and Europe, said Echániz.
