According to the Minister of Tourism of that country, Andrés Izarra, the document called the Basic Guide to Self-Evaluation in Good Practices for the Environmental and Organizational Management of Tourist Accommodation Establishments, contains a series of technical and organizational measures aimed at increasing the operability of service providers. The guide also contains a series of actions aimed at protecting the environment and provides guidelines for hotel operators to adapt to the new regulations that were announced at the beginning of August of this year and that will serve for the categorization by stars of Venezuelan hotels. - Publicidad - Respective guidelines on water and waste management, energy consumption, pollution control, information management, the issue of environmental education, the conservation of flora and fauna and respect for local culture, are elements that are included in the document. At the launch ceremony, the minister reported on the activation of a financial incentive for hotel companies in terms of social responsibility, in order to promote an environmentally friendly operation. The representative of that portfolio explained that tourism service operators that during the inspections demonstrate that their ecological management is constant and with results, will be able to opt for preferential credits from the tourism portfolio of the bank, with three points less in the interest rate. - Publicidad - Additionally, hotels that comply with 95% of the aspects related to environmental management will be awarded five additional points for categorization, and if their compliance is below 50 percent, five units will be subtracted.
