The Argentine tourism sector will build 500 spas in Argentina this year, 300 of which in Buenos Aires, according to the Hosteltur portal. Most of them will be built in four- and five-star hotels, in which they will invest 50 million dollars in equipment. According to the portal, spas will also be built in urban wellness and aesthetic centers, especially in neighborhoods with higher purchasing power. In Buenos Aires, there is practically no area that does not have at least one spa, while in inland cities such as Salta and Mendoza the offer is three or más.La construction of spas in Argentina is associated with the real estate boom that is currently being experienced in the country, which includes buildings and hotels. According to sources in the sector, there are about 200 premium category projects in Buenos Aires and the rest of the country and they foresee that by the end of this year, Argentina will have an offer of around 1,400 establishments of different sizes. Sources estimate that between 2007 and 2008 the supply will double, the portal concluded.
About half of hotel, business or vacation guests expect to receive breakfast as part of the room rate, according to a new study by YPB&R, an international advertising agency specializing in the travel market, and reviewed on the hotels.com portal. The study, which will be published as in two separate parts for business and leisure travel, reveals that 49% of leisure travelers and 53% of corporate travelers attach great importance to the inclusion of breakfast in the hotel night rate. The latter give more importance to this aspect, so that 65% rate the complimentary breakfast as something extreme or very desirable. Likewise, 71% of leisure travelers enjoy trying new dishes when they go out for lunch or dinner. With a similar percentage among corporate travelers, the message is that both types of guests are willing to experiment. Similarly, 52% of business travelers prefer to dine in restaurants outside the hotel where they are staying. On the other hand, the nutritional information of the food they consume is not clear in any of the categories of travelers analyzed: 70% of tourists and 64% of workers respond that there is confusion in this aspect.

Downloadable from the www.bestwestern.com, the application can be easily installed to a personal computer. According to Dorothy Dowling, senior vice president of marketing and sales, Best Western is the first chain to bring its product directly to its customers' personal computers.
In the same vein are the recent introduction on its website of dynamic package options and custom navigation tools and virtual tours for its 2,400 properties in North America.
Gabi is the new brand of Sol Meliá hotels and resorts, an exclusive beach club concept with dinner, special cocktails and international music, which evoke a European beach lounge. The program offers an atmosphere of relaxation and serenity with a cozy arrangement of benches, cushions and seating areas with white curtains and dim lighting. André Gerondeau, the chain's executive vice president for the Caribbean and North America, describes the offer, "Our guests appreciate a sophisticated seating area to relax in the day or night. We are pleased to bring to them the concept of Gabi beach club, adding "Gabi offers a casual, yet sophisticated experience in which guests can mingle with people, share and be calm."
The concept, in the Gabi beach, lounge and club modalities, has been applied in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, in the Palma Real Resort, Paradisus Punta Cana Resort and Meliá Caribe Tropical resorts. Guests have access to them in the Royal Service (all) and Family Concierge (Gabi Beach and Lounge) programs.
Representatives of U.S. building and air conditioning associations and members of the U.S. Green Building Council, supported by representatives of the U.S. Department of Energy, signed an agreement that establishes a common starting point and goal for net-to-zero energy buildings. The document "allows the building design sector to move forward with projects that use much less energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create healthy and comfortable spaces," the groups stated.
The associations that signed the agreement were the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Architecture 2030, the Lighting Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), and the U.S. Green Building Council. The ultimate goal of the memorandum is to create carbon-neutral buildings, that is, that do not use energy from external power grids and operate at fair market values. The construction sector emits nearly half of the greenhouse gases in the U.S.
