Colombia. A few days ago, Juliana Fernández founding partner of Architecture and Interiors confirmed that this year the firm is working on the certification of eight LEED projects in the country including corporate buildings and offices.
In recent years the company has certified 11 projects in Colombia including the offices of Argos, Bavaria, Alpina, Coca Cola, 3M, ANH, among others. Juliana Fernández accredited LEED AP and with a high experience in sustainable projects ensures that "sustainability does not refer only to best environmental practices. A sustainable project also means growth for the country by generating economic sustainability"
AEI, a founding member of the Colombian Council for Sustainable Construction and pioneers in LEED certification, is in the process of certifying the first WELL projects in Latin America, including PayU. The advertising agencies WPP and Sancho, TeleMedellín and one of the most important pharmaceutical companies in the world are ready to be one of the next certified projects in the country
"It is proven that one of the activities that generates the most pollution worldwide is the development of a construction project," said Fernández, "not only because of the use of materials and the pollution produced by the whole process, but also because of the consequences that expansions on agricultural land or natural green areas can have."
For the company it is essential to think about construction in the future with sustainable practices not only for interior design but also for people. Through these new certified projects, we seek to create an initiative and a sustainable culture in its inhabitants.
"To the extent that we have more awareness, change will come from the inside and it will be possible to build greener offices, buildings and cities" Fernández. For AEI its main market is offices and corporate spaces for this reason it wants to continue certifying LEED and WELL projects.
