International. Fairhair Alliance has created three draft specifications that represent the organization's first steps in bridging IoT with building automation and lighting in commercial buildings. The specifications have been reviewed externally and the response received will allow Fairhair to make further commitments.
Fairhair envisions a future where the building automation and lighting control industries use IoT technologies to build secure, cost-effective and scalable systems. This will allow the use of a single infrastructure based on unified IP networks in commercial buildings.
Fairhair supports the adoption of its specifications through existing and well-established ecosystems such as BACnet, KNX and ZigBee.
One of Fairhair's core activities is to create a set of technical specifications for common IP-based infrastructures, based on IEEE and IETF open standards. The specifications define a set of common system services. Fairhair also supports the adoption of its specifications through existing and well-established ecosystems such as BACnet, KNX and ZigBee.
Fairhair's first three draft specifications cover resource modeling, resource discovery, and security. All three have been created by a small group of collaborators and the organization decided to compare the scope and direction of its work by opening up to a select group of external companies, organizations and university groups that were asked to review the draft specifications.
