Colombia. In order to meet its goal of completing 20 hotels in the country by 2020, the French Accor announced the opening of a new establishment in Bogotá, under the Ibis Budget line, the third for Colombia and the first for the capital.
The construction of the hotel, which will be on behalf of the local company Arpro, has already begun and the expectation is that it will be ready in the second half of 2020.
According to Claudia Samper, general manager of Arpro, the opportunity for her company to work with the French organization has been a "sample of the reliability we have as a company, because we meet all the requirements of a firm like Accor," he said.
The hotel, which will have an investment of $ 28,000 million, will have a construction area of 4,283 square meters and will be located in the Marly neighborhood.
"The construction of this hotel in this neighborhood is key, because it is a hotel that has not been developed in the area. The idea of us is that this will attract more investment to this part of the city, which has many hotels but not of high quality, "said the directive.
According to the directive, another purpose of the hotel will be to attract health tourism. "We are very close to the Marly clinic and other important medical centers in the city, and many of the people who come from outside to this area do not find where to stay. Our goal is to meet that need," Samper said.
He also stressed that the hotel will meet the international standards of a world-class chain such as Accor, which will attract more foreigners to the area. "It will be a modern 10-story building with 120 rooms, and will feature the latest advances in technology and hospitality," Samper added.
The construction of the hotel in three lots was also made possible by an alliance with the Multiactive Cooperative of Professionals (Somec), which had one of the plots of land and was looking for how to dispose of it to be profitable. "One day some relatives came to Bogotá for a long-stay medical treatment and that allowed me to know the difficulties of patients and families in such an event. At that time we considered the idea of making a comfortable, practical hotel, of international height, but at low cost. Thus, we found the Ibis Budget brand, and we chose the Arpro firm for its construction," said Luis Orlando Rodríguez, president of the Somec Board.
Finally, Delfim Pinhero, regional manager of Ibis, stressed that with the entry into the Budget brand in Bogotá, the line already has 5,857 rooms throughout South America.
In fact, Pinhero stressed, in the country there are already three hotels of that line, one in Barranquilla, another in Itagüí and now the one in Bogotá, which would complete 524 rooms in Colombia.
