International. With the economic reactivation and the return to face-to-face, many of the employees still do not return to the workspaces they used to, many continue from teleworking fulfilling their functions. Therefore, and in order to go back and at the same time have a hybrid model, companies seek and implement intelligent ways to make offices adapt to the needs of the modern worker with a modular design such as acoustic panels, storage units and space dividers, that allow employees to use the same space for different needs.
Guzman de Yarza Blache, JLL's Director of Workplace Strategy emea, explained, "Multifunctional spaces and furniture that allows open-plan meeting areas to be temporarily reused offer organizations the flexibility to expand or reduce space based on changes in occupancy and needs".
Companies' desire for future-proof properties is nothing new, but the pandemic has accelerated debates about how to rethink office spaces.
"With the permanent changes in work patterns, it is now widely recognized that you don't just have to take into account the location or square meters. Versatile furniture can play a stellar role in office remodeling for the sake of agility, as organizations seek to transform their spaces and respond to changes in workplace culture", says Yarza Blache.
Companies are also attracted to modular furniture due to the growing demand from employees to improve health and well-being. These quality of life issues have become top priorities for office workers, even above their pay, according to JLL's 2022 Worker Preferences Barometer.
For Tétris' Emea Furniture Solutions Director, Betty Surgis, "With office refurbishment evolving to support both high-performance work and employee well-being, we have seen the emergence of home 'resimilar' furniture and designs".
He added: "This puts people first, mixing domestic interiors with traditional aspects of the workplace, turning the office into a comfortable 'home from home' and producing collaborative, agile spaces where people want to spend time".
