According to the latest report released by the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia (Dane), a decrease of 3.1% in the hotel occupancy rate was registered in Colombia during the first three months of the year, in contrast to the previous year when occupancy was increased by 4.2%.
On the other hand, Colombians staying in hotels for leisure reasons corresponds to 47.1%, for business 40% and for their participation in conventions 7.4%.
Foreigners who stayed in Colombia did so mainly for business, with 61.3%; those who traveled for leisure corresponds to 24.8% and conventions 5.6%.
Thus, the occupancy rate as of March 2013 was 51.5%, thus registering a difference of more than three percentage points with the report released in the same period in 2012.
During the month of March the rate per single room had an average increase of 4.2%, the double room also increased its cost by 3.3% and the suite by 0.6%.
