Colombia. Aritz Rojo, Ikusi Colombia sales manager, spoke with Building Management in the framework of the International E+S+S Safety Fair, about the solutions offered by his company and the importance of integration to improve the operational efficiency of buildings.
During the fair, Ikusi promoted its integration solutions related to citizen security, but the company also has within its portfolio different platforms for infrastructure management, smart buildings and solutions oriented to Smart Grid and Smart Cities.
"In general, we cover everything that has to do with the efficient management of this type of infrastructure. That is, in relation to buildings we have different solutions that optimize the management in terms of security, information and communications, "explained Rojo.
One of the topics discussed during the conversation with this medium was the topic of systems integration, and how companies can get more out of it. The first point to consider is that in Colombia the integration of systems has not yet become widespread, despite the benefits it can bring.
"The situation in Colombia is a market that is dominated by manufacturers, there is no tendency to integrate, there is no tendency to give intelligence to the systems. My advice to building managers is to open their minds a little more to provide independent and open technology to cities, airports and other facilities, as well as to think a little more about what the underlying problem is and how to solve it. Today there is a misconception that more cameras, more equipment we install, better, what we have to do is take advantage of what exists and give it intelligence, for example with integration systems, "said the interviewee.
"These platforms help to optimize the number of resources that one needs, to optimize the ability to react to an incident, but now we find ourselves in situations in which if there is, for example, a fire alarm, it is not very clear how to proceed, there are no action procedures or safety protocols established in the buildings. In that case, when considering a technological investment, you must first think about what my problem is and how I am going to take advantage of the technology. Thinking of solutions as a fundamental asset of the building", concludes Rojo.
