International. AT&T and Otis Elevator Company collaborate in the development of digital products, services and technologies encompassed in the so-called Internet of Things to improve connectivity between people and elevators, escalators and mobile platforms.
To this end, AT&T and Otis are consolidating their relationship to develop connectivity in advanced elevators while providing mobility to the more than 30,000 maintenance employees of Otis companies around the world. Otis maintenance services will use AT&T Internet of Things technology to aggregate data from mobile networks and connect to a new, enhanced cloud environment.
Specifically, AT&T's global SIM card and Internet of Things services such as Control Center, M2X and Flow Designer will allow Otis to access real-time equipment operating data. In addition, AT&T will become the primary provider of wireless connectivity services for Otis' field operations.
This collaboration is an example of how AT&T and United Technologies are exploring ways to use the potential of digital technologies and communications networks to improve performance, reduce costs and deliver better outcomes for customers in the construction and aerospace industries.
Otis has used AT&T network services in its business activities for more than 15 years. This agreement will provide new mobility tools that will put more information in the hands of Otis employees who have a direct relationship with customers, and will give customers more efficiency, better communication and greater flexibility.
AT&T experts will help Otis accelerate processes to create safer buildings and transportation systems that are invisible to tenants and residents, more efficient and reduce the building's energy consumption.
