International. Francisco Vázquez, president of 3G Office, shared in an interview with the Peruvian media infocapitalhumano.pe his impressions about the evolution in the models of space management in offices and how these models can increase employee productivity.
In the first place, the executive pointed out that in Peru and Latin America the traditional model of offices, individual cubicles and very large meeting rooms is still rooted, which contrasts with current trends in the United States and Europe. In his opinion, this is because companies continue to be very concerned about the issue of hierarchy evidenced in the type of office of each employee.
Given the above, Vázquez highlights that "technological and social changes have led to the ways of working have taken a 180-degree turn. You can already work at any time and anywhere, so the concept of office changes, and workspaces must be flexible and adapt to these new ways of working. It is proven that 50% of workspaces are currently empty in traditional offices."
In this scenario, the big trends in terms of the design and management of workspaces today are the areas with flexibility and diversity. "workspaces should promote collaboration and corporatism, promote teamwork, without forgetting the areas where you can work concentrated without interruptions, leisure and relaxation areas, areas that favor conversations and internal communication between employees and departments and, when presence is not necessary, places outside the office to continue working productively with the right tools", Vazquez points out.
Regarding the issue of productivity, the interviewee points out that in a flexible company trust is essential and productivity should be measured by objectives and results and not by hours of work in front of a table.
In general terms, studies indicate an increase in productivity in flexible offices of 15%, while operating costs can be reduced by between 30 and 40%.
