Cradle of Life, a new brand of luxury resorts has begun construction of Del Rey Airport, the first full-service, private international air terminal in the world. It will be located in Isla del Rey, in the archipelago of Las Perlas, in Panama. The airport, with its own customs service and capacity to accommodate Boeing 737 jets and personal and commercial aircraft, will have a luxury waiting room, fueling and ground transportation.
With the start of construction of the terminal, the first resort, Las Perlas, will begin, which seeks to capture the unimaginable luxury of an escape on a tropical island. Twenty constructions have been planned with two villas each at more than 3,500 ft2. Las Perlas will be located in Playa San Juan, one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. Cuna de Vida has planned to build five resorts in different parts of the world by 2025. Hotelier and entrepreneur André Niederhauser is behind the project. For him, "this airport will offer a level of service unparalleled in any other area of the world, to respond to the needs of guests who demand a certain degree of service and luxury."
Radisson Hotels and Resorts Latin America has announced the addition of three new properties in Peru and Panama. Aimed at the market of high-end corporate travelers Radisson Decapolis Hotel Miraflores and Radisson Hotel & Suites San Isidro, in Lima seek to fill the need for first-class hotels in the city. After intensive renovations, the 105-room Miraflores opened on February 15 in Lima's residential and business district, under the management of Gerardo Camacho, who acted as general manager of the Radisson Decapolis in Panama City. The same executive oversees the remodeling of the hotel in San Isidro, a 35-suite property that is adding a 69-room tower with banquet and food facilities.
Located in a quiet and exclusive residential sector that bears the same name, the hotel will compete strongly in the high-scale corporate segment. Likewise, in Panama, the Summit Resort & Spa will open next December, near the Miraflores locks and the Centennial Bridge. The 103-room property will occupy a newly built but eco-friendly tower in its conception on the grounds of the Summit Golf Club, which will also be renovated. The hotel will cater to the demand for accommodation from leisure and business travellers, said one of the majority owners. The addition of these properties responds to the strategy of expanding in high-growth markets, such as Argentina and Brazil, as well as others with lower demand in Central and South America, said Denise Estefan, president of Radisson Latin America.
