Distinction of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade
Jesús Gatell, Medal of Tourist Merit
Likewise, the Association of Hotel Directors of Madrid also awards him with the "Heart of Gold", a distinction that highlights the figure of the director as a guarantor of values such as hospitality and humanity.
The Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade has distinguished Jesús Gatell with the Medal of Tourism Merit in the field of knowledge.
The professional career of Gatell, a member of the Spanish Association of Hotel Directors (AEDH), began more than 50 years ago when he began working in his native Catalonia as a bellboy at the Park Hotel. Later he would go on to perform different functions in several hotel chains until in 1978 he began as director. His last position from 1991 to September 2010 was the management of the Madrid hotels Husa Princesa and Moncloa.
Gatell pointed out that "the news makes me very happy and I want to think that it is mainly due to many years dedicated to the beautiful activity of lodging, in particular, and tourism, in general"
During these five decades, Gatell has combined his professional work with his representation in organizations such as the Hotel Business Association of Madrid (AEHM), of which he is president, and representative entities of the sector. In this sense, he feels that "this decoration obliges me even more, if possible, to enhance my commitment in the work of structuring associationism".
Likewise, the Association of Hotel Directors of Madrid (ADHM) has also wanted to recognize the professional merits of Gatell and last Friday, November 26, gave him the "Heart of Gold". According to its president, Manuel Vegas, with this decoration, which has been awarded since 1996, we want to enhance the figure of the director as a guarantor of values such as hospitality and humanity.
