The Villa St. Louis hotel will be the first rebuilt on the island and will serve as a starting point to unite hospitality workers, who were left adrift after the earthquake destroyed some resorts and forced the cancellation of trips and conventions scheduled in advance in Haiti.
The construction of the hotel will require between 500 and 600 new employment opportunities, including 30 part-time employees to attend banquets and receptions. To these are added between 100 and 120 permanent positions, 20% of which will correspond to managerial and supervisory positions.
"The reconstruction of the hotel will not substantially increase employment during the construction stage, but it implies direct and indirect employment opportunities for Haitians in the medium and long term," explained Nikolas Easrwick-Field of NEF & JM Associates, responsible for the project.
