International. Research published by the Property Directors Forum says that companies are shifting their historical focus towards cost reduction to focus on priorities aimed at ensuring the well-being of workers. The study states that the number one priority for businesses is currently increased employee productivity, with 40% of property managers surveyed stating the above. For its part, the second priority, with 28% of the responses, is to attract and retain the best talent.
As a consequence, metrics such as employee engagement, satisfaction and retention are preferred by 61% of property managers to measure the performance of strategies applied to the workplace. While metrics focused on space or assets are in last place.
In addition, 82% of property managers believe that an effective workspace management strategy needs to address the different needs of each generation of employees. Another important trend evidenced in the results of the survey is the increase in the use of spaces outside those of the company, such as cafeterias, restaurants or external meeting rooms.
50% of the interviewees consider that the use of spaces such as those mentioned above has increased, while 86% consider that the use of spaces that are not owned by the company should be a point to take into account when planning a workspace.
In addition, property managers expressed the need for work strategies with a more comprehensive approach, which goes beyond the confines of the building to include the quality of local services.
