Peru. According to information revealed by José Antonio Contreras, president of the Association of Shopping and Entertainment Centers (Accep) of Peru, by 2016 there will be the opening of 6 new establishments of this type in the country, 3 of them in Lima.
This contrasts with the latest investment figures in this market, according to which there was a slight decrease, going from US$383 million invested in 2014 to US$350 in 2015. However, the sales sector at least expects to invoice US $ 7,890 million this year, 11% more than last year, which shows that this is still a highly profitable item.
Similarly, the number of monthly visitors that shopping centers receive also presents an increase. The figure for 2014 was 52.4 million people on average, so Accep expects to close 2015 with 55.6 million visits per month.
Although the number of Shopping Centers is on the rise, Peru is far behind the rest of the countries in the region since it only has 2.3 malls per million inhabitants, far from the average of the region that is 3.4 per million people or the leader Chile, where there are 5 centers per million.
