Argentina. The Ministry of Environment and Public Space of Rosario called on buildings to become centers for the reception of waste at source. For this, the Separe Program offers orange containers to be placed in spaces of common use.
There are already more than 670 reception centers (including 40 buildings) that have joined the Separe program. It includes schools, neighborhoods, clubs, buildings committed to the preservation of the environment.
The Separe Program, promoted by the Ministry of Environment and Public Space, encourages neighbors to separate organic waste from recyclable waste with the aim of generating responsible consumption and reducing the waste that is sent to the landfill.
"With these actions we aim to strengthen the separation program and contribute to the formation of a responsible environmental citizenship," said Marina Borgatello, Secretary of Environment and Public Space. For seven years, the actions have been developed in different modalities through which the neighbor can correctly dispose of his recyclable materials.
On the one hand are the islands of separation into streets and avenues.
Another tool is the differentiated door-to-door collection on a weekly basis that operates in some neighborhoods.
And the third possibility consists of recyclable waste reception centers located in intermediate entities. They are institutions that voluntarily opened their doors to house orange containers in order for the neighbors to bring papers, cardboard, plastic bottles, glass, telgopor and metal containers, agreeing with the Municipality their assistance for the emptying.
The units can store materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, metal and glass containers, telgopor, that are clean and dry.
It should be noted that the incorporation of waste separation and recycling habits strengthens these actions that, in addition to promoting habits of coexistence and improving the environment, provides sustainability and jointly stimulates the care of the environment.
In this way, the amount of waste that is buried also decreases and is a way to contribute to urban recyclers and recyclers.
