Spain. The Institute of Technology of the University of Karlsruhe and ECE Projektmanagement have drafted a Manual of Sustainable Operation of Shopping Centers in which they detail proposals for action in the field of sustainability.
Each of ECE's subsidiaries, as in the case of Auxideico, follows these guidelines in the shopping centers it manages, in accordance with the regulations in force in each of the countries in which they operate. Therefore, the Sustainable Operation Manual that Auxideico has begun to be implemented in this second half of the year taking into account the recommendations, good practices and self-evaluation system of the sustainable measures that are being adopted. In this way, the company contemplates an improvement plan whose results can be evaluated at the end of this year.
The objective, according to the Head of Facility Management of Auxideico, Luis Barajas, is to achieve a shopping center that is sustainable in all its areas: from water and energy saving, through waste management or CO2 emissions, among others.
In recent years, the shopping centers managed by Auxideico have already been recognized with different distinctions for their environmentally friendly work, so they have the Iso 14001 Certification for Environmental Management Systems (in 9 shopping centers), the ISO 50001 Certification for the Energy Management System (in 1 shopping center) and the certifications for sustainable building BREEAM in use (in 5 shopping centers) and LEED EBOM (in 1 shopping center).
