Latin America. The electrical appliances we use consume different amounts of energy, depending on their energy efficiency and how long we use them.
For example, the toaster or an iron works with resistors that convert electricity into heat, for which they need a lot of energy.
It should be noted that lighting represents one third of the consumption of electrical energy, another third is from the refrigerator and the rest derives from other electrical appliances; therefore, here are five tips to save electricity:
Lighting
Make the most of natural light by avoiding turning on the lights in rooms where it is not necessary. Change all the lamps for low consumption ones, because they need four times less energy and last up to ten times longer.
Computer
When you're done working with the desktop or laptop, disconnect it completely. If you're taking a break, close your laptop or turn off your monitor. Another trick is the setting in "automatic power saving" mode:
Appliances
Disconnect everything you're not using. Television, radio, cell phone charger, blenders, microwave, etc. If you unplug these devices you will be avoiding "phantom consumption" at home, which represents 5% of average consumption.
Refrigerator
Leave it at least 5cm apart from the wall to allow air circulation and avoid connecting it near other heat sources. It is also important not to leave your door open so that the air does not escape or put hot food.
Washing machine
You have to try not to overload it because otherwise it will increase the consumption of water and electricity, not to mention that the engine is forced and the clothes will be poorly washed.
