The Official College of Quantity Surveyors and Technical Architects of Madrid (COAATM) through the Building School Foundation relaunches its training plan for the 2017-2018 academic year focused on four key specialties: Project Management, Facility Manager, Real Estate Master and Expero BIM.
This year, according to data from the Ministry of Development, the number of new construction visas may reach its fourth consecutive year on the rise, in addition, according to the same source, the number of properties sold has a year-on-year growth of 14.7%, and according to the Institute of Statistics and Registration of the Construction Industry, employment in construction grew by 12.5% in the last year. Data that are good indications that demonstrate the rise of the economy and the sector and are a good clue to make the decision to sign up for the specialized training offered by the College and the Building School Foundation.
Felipe Aparicio, Director of the Business Development Area of the College underlines the importance of training for professionals in the sector at the moment: "this growth is not punctual, it is the natural progression due to the improvement of the economy and the appearance of new investments. Faced with this event, workers in the building sector have to be prepared and avoid stagnating. For this we must train ourselves to meet the new challenges that are present in real life. The academic offer of the College and the Foundation are aimed at training students with knowledge, processes and specialized and cutting-edge tools for day-to-day work".
The courses and master's degrees of the College have a 0% dropout rate and in most cases with up to 80% of labor insertion after their completion. The College of Quantity Surveyors of Madrid has been offering specialized training for more than 30 years.
A modern and specialized training
This academic year 2017-2018 the School has a wide range of courses and master's degrees, all of them eminently practical, in which students learn with real cases and with expert and professional teachers practicing that can give a real vision of the subjects and modalities with cases and current agenda. Specifically, the training offer is committed to four specialties: Real Estate Master (MIP) "Asset, Property & Real Estate Management", Master in Real Estate Asset Management and Services "Facility Manager", BIM Higher Studies Program and Master in Project Management and Construction "Project & Construction Management".
The Master's Degree in Real Estate (MIP) "Asset, Property & Real Estate Management", is the first master's programme at the national level aimed at training specialists in the real estate sector qualified in the management of high-volume real estate transactions. It is an expanding sector with high professional demand.
This year will be the XXII edition of the Master program of greater prestige and recognition for the training of specialists in the management of construction projects, the Master in Project Management and Construction "Project & Construction Management". This program is organized in collaboration with the Institute of Continuing Education of the Official College of Architects of Madrid. Throughout the different editions, subjects have been incorporated at the forefront of new trends in the sector, such as BIM, Lean Construction or Last Planner. This program is endorsed by entities and sector associations of recognized prestige (AECMA, MACE, Hill International, Gleeds).
The Master in Real Estate Asset Management and Services "Facility Manager" is a master's program aimed at professionals with technical profiles interested in specialization in the management of services associated with the commissioning and exploitation of real estate assets. Students acquire knowledge of optimization and efficient management of energy supplies, maintenance of facilities, and organization of value-added services to the building (catering, cleaning, surveillance and security).
The BIM Higher Studies Program is the most extensive training program in the BIM field, (Building Information Modelling). This new methodology of management of the life cycle of the building, is being imposed both worldwide and at the level of public or private promotion. It is based on the generation of virtual models of the building containing graphic and non-graphic information. It has a high link with new technologies and data management (BIG DATA).
Professional certification as an added value
This year, the College of Quantity Surveyors and Technical Architects of Madrid promoted the creation of the Professional Certification Agency (ACP) in order to provide added value to the training and proven experience of each worker in the field of building. The ACP accredited by the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC) has the ability to recognize the competence and knowledge of a professional in the sector. To do this, each candidate must pass a demanding process included in the price of the training courses outlined above.
