Latin America. Light Fidelity (LiFi) technology consists of data transmission via LED lighting. It is bidirectional high-speed similar to WiFi but instead of radio waves uses light waves to transmit data.
Lighting manufacturers such as Philips Lighting have taken advantage of this development to offer it in their high-quality LED lighting solutions by providing a broadband Internet connection using light waves. Therefore, they have begun to offer LiFi-enabled luminaires in their catalog of office systems.
Philips Lighting now offers Light Fidelity (LiFi), a technology in which high-quality LED lighting provides a broadband Internet connection using light waves. As an Internet of Things lighting company, Philips Lighting is the first global lighting company to offer LiFi-enabled luminaires in its portfolio of office lighting systems.
Philips Lighting office luminaires enabled with LiFi technology provide broadband connection with a speed of 30 Mb per second (Mb/s) without detriment to the quality of light. With 30 Mb/s, users can simultaneously stream multiple HD quality videos while making video calls. Philips Lighting offers Downlight, Philips PowerBalance gen2 and Philips LuxSpace LiFi-enabled luminaires.
Radio frequencies are increasingly saturated and the visible light spectrum is a resource to be exploited with a large bandwidth appropriate to simultaneously and stably connect a wide variety of Internet of Things devices.
