Mexico. On November 5 and 6 at the NH Hotel in Mexico City, the International Congress of Facility Managers (CIFMERS) was held, where new technologies and international regulations were announced to improve the operation in offices, factories and corporations.
This event sought to promote the discipline of Facility Management, in accordance with international regulations, by offering various advisory talks, consulting, training and certifications of suppliers that are developed in Latin America.
There was talk of new energies such as Wind energy that are allowing considerable savings in real estate, as well as the onerous expenses in the consumption of electricity, air conditioning and lighting. They stressed that the automation of buildings allows to control the time when the energy is turned on and off, avoiding unnecessary expenses in the consumption of light.
They talked about the LEED certification, which is a seal of environmental quality of buildings, serves to implement an ecological design in buildings during their construction taking into account the life cycle of the building. In the past this certification was a fashion among investors or builders, but today it is a necessity because it allows to take care of resources and the environment.
The topic of technology in the quality of life and improvement of services was discussed. In the case of the company Sodexo, focused on Facility Services, he stressed that they have applications that allow customers to send requests for services by smartphone for the immediate repair of water leaks, problems in air conditioning and lack of energy among others, which keeps them as leaders in the market.
Meanwhile, Erick Muñoz Acevedo of the company Procter and Gamble, also spoke of the technologies that improve the activities of the Facility Manager, said that we are on the verge of a technological revolution that will change the way we work in the office, the privacy we have, the posture of employees, productivity and process-oriented spaces.
The job of the new Facility Manager is to seek continuous improvement with savings and efficient services.
