Bolivia. This November 15 and 16 is held in Santa Cruz de la Sierra the 3rd. edition of the International Sustainability Seminar (SIS), focused on expanding the knowledge of participants on concepts about sustainable construction and its impact on the environment.
Organized by the Green Building Council Bolivia, a private non-profit organization that brings together experts from the construction sector, SIS 2018 will be a space for debate and learning about architecture, design, urban planning, sustainable construction and international LEED (Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design) certifications. Sites and EDGE, which today support buildings designed in terms of energy efficiency and eco-efficiency.
The SIS 2018, which will be held at the Los Tajibos hotel, will have first-class national and foreign exhibitors, who will share their experiences on parameters that allow the development of projects, standards and regulations related to sustainability and LEED certification, implemented in 1993 and which has the rank of being one of the most important in the world in terms of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient structures.
The Green Building Council is the only organization authorized to certify that a construction complies with the LEED parameters for sustainable buildings, and that in practice allows architects to have up to 30% more land use, that is, two floors higher in the constructions they design.
Exhibitors for this version of SIS this year include: Mark Sexton, founder of Krueck + Sexton, who will talk about sustainable U.S. government buildings; Anderson Letti, expert in Energy Modeling, with the theme of Integrated Process, Energy Efficiency and LEED Certification; Alex Brahm, LEED AP, with the theme Transoceanic Holding Buildings and LEED GOLD NC; Viviana Parada, advisor of the Ecovecindarios project at the Swisscontact Foundation, with the theme Advances in the integral management of solid waste in Bolivia; Ismael Correa, A4 Arquitectos Chile, with the theme Manzana 40 and project with LEED Certification.
Also taking the floor will be Christian Arévalo, product marketing manager, to discuss the United Technologies Corporation Smart Building Center case study; Víctor Hugo Limpias, PhD in Architecture, with the theme Sustainability in the metropolitan area of Santa Cruz; Elías Robles, expert in sustainable design and construction, with the presentation on Sustainable Design and Construction with the Leed standard, and Sandra Velarde, municipal secretary of Administration and Finance, with the theme Urban Planning Policies in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
