International. Our entire environment is changing and workspaces need to adapt to the new needs of people and ways of working. Companies must then worry about offering the technological tools, spaces and optimal conditions to contribute to the productivity and happiness of their professionals.
Aware of the importance of the work environment for most companies, IFMA Spain, Spanish Association of Facility Management, has held a new edition of Workplace Summit, an annual meeting that aims to learn about the latest trends and large projects on workspaces.
The conference took place at the College of Quantity Surveyors and Technical Architects of Madrid (COAATM) and was inaugurated by Jesús Paños, President of this institution, and Francisco García Ahumada, President of IFMA Spain, who highlighted the need for work environments to be aligned with the business strategy of each company; a concept that allows talent loyalty, develop comfort and contribute to the CSR of the company.
The workspace should reflect the philosophy of the company. In this sense, to create a healthy environment, ten concepts that offer a holistic vision of well-being are evaluated: air quality, water quality, nutrition, lighting, movement to avoid a sedentary lifestyle, thermal comfort, acoustics, cleaning materials, mind and community. With all this, it becomes a real challenge for companies, which must make the job a positive human experience.
This experience influences, therefore, the happiness and well-being of the employee and with it their productivity. Thus, it has been shared how the happiness of the worker improves their health by 20%, they are 86% more creative and 30% more productive. All these variables and trends are those that Facility Managers should know very well, since they are the ones who must be responsible for putting them into practice in order to influence the proper functioning of any type of organization.
On the other hand, throughout the day several concrete examples of workspace projects have been presented in which it has been described how the restructuring of its headquarters has been carried out and how as a result of converting the office into open and dynamic spaces, with different proposals for employees such as gym, terrace or mindfulness classes, it has been possible to increase the productivity and well-being of workers.
