International. Johnson Controls unveiled its latest technology, Tyco Cloud, a new suite of cloud security products that helps customers move the security infrastructure for access control and video surveillance to the cloud.
The company says that with Tyco Cloud, organizations can reduce costs, improve business management and scale on-demand security operations, opening up a range of endless possibilities for delivering online security services.
Tyco Cloud enables users to protect lives, assets and facilities through access control management, video surveillance and other security operations, with secure cloud services and connected devices such as cameras and cloud controllers. Tyco's cloud solutions run on a modern, open microservices architecture that ensures secure, scalable, and fast services.
"Our customers around the world are embracing and accelerating digital transformation to make their businesses smarter, more agile and more profitable," said Martin Renkis, General Manager, Cloud Solutions, Global Security Products, Johnson Controls. "Tyco Cloud enables this digital transformation with on-demand security management that allows organizations to securely and cost-effectively customize their access control and video surveillance solutions based on business-wide, site-specific requirements."
In terms of video surveillance, organizations can enable Tyco Cloud on any Illustra camera in the cloud or use existing camera systems with Tyco's cloud gateways, which will automatically locate cameras from dozens of different manufacturers on a network and allow the secure management of those cameras in the cloud.
With Tyco Cloud it is possible to store video on camera, at the gateway, in the low or high latency cloud or in a hybrid combination that provides unlimited flexibility and a good cost/benefit ratio. The intuitive interface allows users to customize recording parameters, for example, with which cameras to record and for how long, what the video resolution is, etc., as well as create unique upload schedules that minimize bandwidth consumption. The service also offers cold video storage in the cloud for economical, high-latency online archiving. The new hyper-visualization functionality allows users to search in 24 hours for recorded video from up to 100 cameras in 60 seconds. Tyco Cloud's surveillance feature also supports powerful analytics such as heat maps, object detection, crowd formation, etc.
In access control, Tyco Cloud's new ioSmart solutions include mobile credentials on smartphones and smart card-managed access control so businesses can offer staff the security and convenience of entering the premises using their smartphones without the risk of loss, theft or cloning of legacy card technologies. This solution was designed exclusively to work in the cloud and, from there, offer convenience, cost savings and advanced security for access control.
The Tyco Cloud Enterprise Manager portal gives users a comprehensive view of the entire security solution through a single interface. It shows the real-time management and status of each connected device in an interactive global map. This simple dashboard also allows user tracking and management, bandwidth utilization, cloud storage and device firmware.
In addition, Tyco Cloud protects all data that is transmitted from any device to the cloud and to the end user. Both the connected devices and the cloud platform are supported by the Johnson Controls Security Products Cyber Protection Program, which provides optimized protection against cyberattacks, including additional controls for proper password management and end-to-end encrypted communications.
