Through a monitoring system through video surveillance cameras (CCTV) and a direct communication network, five-star hotels and international networks located in Guatemala activated their security plan to prevent crime.
The initiative of the hotels, affiliated with the Hotel Security Council of Guatemala (Cosehogua), seeks to reduce crime rates against tourists who visit three of the most important destinations in that country to protect the perimeters of tourist centers, as well as a journey between the capital and the towns of Sacatepéquez and Escuintla.
The president of this council, Byron Heredia, told local media that it seeks to prevent crime by adding personnel from tourist establishments to denounce any criminal who attempts against the integrity of a person. Members of the national and traffic police, the Public Prosecutor's Office, the private sector and members of Cosehogua are part of the strategy.
