There are many destinations that we have to choose from when thinking about holidays, sun and beach, ecological, cultural, gastronomic, amusement and family, and I am sure that in each of them there is a wide offer that goes from the simplest to the most luxurious. Today Latin America offers a wide portfolio.
The construction and openings of new hotels in Latin America have increased significantly in the last five years, and now more with the upcoming world sports events in Brazil.
Establishments of high and medium categories appear in the panorama of travelers who want to know these lands of colors and flavors, but how many good occupancy opportunities do hotels have?, Is the number of tourists who visit Latin destinations so high to have so many accommodations?, Does it have any incidence or benefit to promote coupons and others to attract guests?
Some industry professionals have told me that while occupancy is not constant, there are special weeks and months that compensate for the others of low occupancy and the use of coupon or loyalty programs is relative and also focuses on low season. I am still left with the doubt and not because they do not visit us or do not increase business trips in the region, but because the offer is numerous; but you know this better than I do.
What does have me pleasantly surprised is that finally the new international pier of the Eldorado airport, in the Colombian capital, will begin operating in a few days, improving the service and the process of entry of travelers. Hopefully they do not leave this new work underused and Bogotá can be the entry point to South America as it happens with many other cities and benefit this to the hotel industry.
