In front of a group of students, practicing the noblest work of the human being: teaching, our professional guest in this edition opened the doors to let us know a little more about his life.

To become today the holder of a clean prestige and inspirer of respect in the classroom, Fernando Antonio Moreno Forero, an engineer by profession and teacher by vocation, had to go a long way and demonstrate that rigorous study gives weight to the name we carry.
This 46-year-old from Bogota has been teaching for 17 years, at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
He graduated from the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario in 1994. He graduated as an electrical engineer from the Colombian School of Engineering. He developed three specializations: in Marketing Management, from the Universidad del Rosario, in Bogotá, Colombia; in Internal Control, of the Nueva Granada Military University, and in Senior Management of the same institution.
He also holds a master's degree in National Security and Defense from the Escuela Superior de Guerra, and has studied as a BASC internal auditor and diplomas in the subject of ICT at the Nueva Granada Military University.
In his master's curriculum they have institutions of higher education such as the San Buenaventura University, in the position of director of the Electronic Engineering Program; the Santo Tomás University and the Military School of Cadets.
He is currently a full-time professor in the Mechatronics Engineering program, at the Faculty of Engineering of the Nueva Granada Military University, first passing through the position of director of the Occupational Health and Safety Management Program.
Before turning to academia, he tested his knowledge and engineering talent at companies such as GM Col Motors, Walter Rothlisberger and Luminex, where he had the opportunity to demonstrate his skills in the managerial and commercial fields.
"As an engineer and teacher I have the honor of training executives in the areas related to Integral Security. The integrality of two areas such as physical security and electronics has a lot of applicability in the residential, commercial, industrial sector, large surfaces and vital facilities, this mixture of knowledge allowed me to enter this exciting world of security, "says our guest.
From generation to generation
This curiosity for the universe of security has something mystical and hereditary: his mother, Isabel Forero de Moreno, studied and worked at the Military School of Cadets. At 80 years of age she is, in Fernando's words, the only woman member of the Academy of Military History by academic merit.
It is still difficult to specify if the military caste will continue in his family, since who until now enjoys as the only heir is Vale, Valeria, the little daughter of Fernando, who is barely four years old, product of the happy marriage between Fernando and Liliana Ramírez.
Valeria is the inspirer of one of the projects undertaken by Moreno, an initiative that is a source of pride, "it is the project 'Integral systems in security for children and adolescents' with which we seek to prevent vulnerability and accidents in this population".
With proposals like this Fernando has drawn what he calls his greatest challenge "to be considered internationally as a benchmark in Integral Security, Intelligent Buildings and Business Continuity".
And since not everything in life is work, our guest feeds his leisure moments through football; he considers himself passionate about one of the two most important football teams in the Colombian capital: the blue millonarios moves his fibers and hopes to attend a match that his team plays at the La Bombonera stadium in Argentina.
An industry connoisseur
For Fernando Moreno, one of the levers of the building management and security industry is the positive hotel development that currently exists in Colombia. "Free trade agreements and international agreements propose a massive presence of investors and visitors from all over the world, in figures from Cotelco (an entity that brings together hotel companies in Colombia) it is expected that in the following years the sector will grow by 5.8%," he explains.
According to our guest, this context has also generated, in the technological issue and from the academy, a preparation of the manager of the hotel sector in relation to Risk Management, integral systems in Electronic Security and business continuity and business fraud, "issues that I have led from the Nueva Granada Military University, BASC Bogotá Chapter and the Externado University in its Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism".
Another issue that deserves a separate chapter for its rapid evolution and massive development is the construction of smart hotels, the integration of technologies and automation for the purposes of comfort, efficiency and sustainability. "The industry has expanded and its landscape is now full of variants and opportunities for professional development. That must be taken advantage of," recommends Fernando Moreno.
It also believes that the business sectors face new threats in the order of global security, problems such as natural disasters, narcoterrorism, arms trafficking, human trafficking, cyberterrorism (which is presented as cyber armies in favor of violating the information bases of states and companies); issues that affect foreign investment, the tranquility of visitors to a country and make us see an increasingly complex future.
"In short, you have to know that the debate must take place around these great global threats. We must face these situations as challenges through the urgent need for the implementation of a Risk Management System, which is why smart megaprojects are the global trend, as the world is demanding standards of efficiency and sustainability".
