Ecuador. Ecuador's hotel industry will receive investment in new projects close to US$1.6 billion, according to Ecuador's Ministry of Tourism. The entity explained that the increase in tourists visiting the country has driven the improvement in hotel infrastructure, which has also been driven by the benefits granted by the government with its Tourism Investment Attraction Program.
Among the projects expected for the coming years are the Karibao hotels, of the company Pronobis, which will be built in the state of Playas-Guayas with an investment of US $ 700 million. Swiss Towers, a new property in Guayaquil, will receive an investment of US$120 million.
For its part, the Wyndham Gran Cóndor Quito Hotel, which will open at the end of 2015, will have an investment of US$17 million. Finally, the city of Cuenca will receive the Sheraton Cuenca, a project of the company Estrategas Inmobiliarios S.A. that will have an estimated investment of US$13 million.
