Costa Rica. The Starwood hotel chain announced that it will open a hotel of its "W" luxury property brand in Costa Rica for the year 2019. In this way, the Central American country will become the first destination in the region to have a hotel of this brand.
The building is expected to have 151 rooms, as well as space for events and conventions. The W Costa Rica is part of an expansion plan that includes the W Bogotá hotel, already in operation, and the W Panama hotel, which will open in 2017.
"W Costa Rica is an important addition to our portfolio of projects under development in Latin America and a significant step toward realizing our aggressive growth plan," said Jorge Giannattasio, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Starwood Hotels & Resorts for Latin America.
The construction of the W Costa Rica will be carried out in agreement with the local company Desarrollos Hoteleros Guanacaste S.A. (DHG)
