International. By 2020, Sodexo expects to reduce its global carbon footprint by 34%, which is equivalent to a decrease of 5.3 million tons of CO2. This is the result of an agreement established between the company and the World Conservation Organization (WWF) that seeks to develop methodologies that allow calculating and reducing the carbon emissions of the business group.
To achieve this, Sodexo is implementing actions such as reducing waste in its food services, increasing energy efficiency initiatives, as well as the implementation of renewable energy sources, in addition to working together with its more than 10,000 suppliers around the world to offer the market more environmentally friendly products.
Patricio Fernández, Director of Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility at Sodexo, pointed out that "assuming a responsibility with our ecosystem is a social and environmental imperative, which can even increase the profitability of companies. To make a real impact with this initiative, we need our supply chain to fully commit to systematic reductions."
