Colombia. César Ulises Treviño, general director of the company Bioconstrucción y Energía Alternativa (BEA), will be one of the featured speakers at ConstruVerde Colombia 2015, an event organized by the Colombian Council for Sustainable Construction (CCCS), which will be held on Wednesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10, 2015 at El Cubo de Colsubsidio in the city of Bogotá.
Treviño led the LEED certification process of BEA's corporate headquarters located in Monterrey, Mexico, reaching in June of this year a double LEED Platinum level certification for the project, which is also the fifth real estate project in the world to achieve LEED v.4 certification for an existing building.
"This achievement allows us to reaffirm our commitment to a better built environment for Mexico and Latin America. The design of BEA's corporate offices integrates strategies for the reuse of construction material, high-performance glazing, water reuse with a rainwater treatment and collection plant, optimization of energy consumption, application of alternative energies, to highlight some aspects," explained Treviño.
"The success story that Treviño will present will motivate the national sustainable construction industry to achieve increasingly demanding projects in their environmental performance, as required by LEED version 4 that will be the new standard from November 2016," said Cristina Gamboa, director of the Colombian Council for Sustainable Construction (CCCS).
Treviño added that "it is evident the enormous potential that the application of these strategies has in our region, even more so in existing buildings, which exceed in consumption and numbers those currently under construction."
