International . The International Energy Agency (IEA), in conjunction with the Ministry of Energy (Sener) of Mexico, will hold a conference focused on the theme "Regional Energy Efficiency Policy Recommendations: Latin America and the Caribbean". The session will be held on Thursday, October 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (Mexico City time, UTC - 6 hours) via Webinar from the IEA Headquarters in the city of Paris, France.
This webinar will be based on the IEA's recent publication of a list of 20 energy efficiency policy recommendations for Latin America and the Caribbean divided into five sectors: Cross-cutting policies; Buildings; Lighting, electrical appliances and equipment; Transportation; and Industry. The webinar will cover, in summary, the main recommendations for each sector.
This publication was prepared by the IEA, with the support of more than 50 energy efficiency experts from Latin America and the Caribbean, in conjunction with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru.
The 20 detailed recommendations comprise policies ranging from measures to implement mandatory minimum energy efficiency standards for buildings and electrical appliances, to measures to improve system planning and transport efficiency and promote energy management systems in industry. The recommendations are adapted according to the challenges and opportunities of the region.
