International. The president of the Professional Association of Cleaning Companies (Aspel), Juan Díez de los Ríos, highlighted the importance of 'facility management' to promote productivity and generate competitive advantages in companies.
Díez de los Ríos made these statements during the conference 'Facility Management as a strategy that adds value to the Organization', organized by the IFMA Spain association at the headquarters of the CEOE. The president of Aspel stressed the advantages of properly managing assets by companies and institutions through facility management.
In this sense, Díez de los Ríos added that for this activity to be fully developed in our country "three things must happen: that the state trusts in public-private collaboration plans and these are really developed, as has happened in the Anglo-Saxon world, that in the Law of Contracts there are really mixed contracting figures and, finally, that a work framework be created that develops a common social dialogue with all disciplines and professions".
The president of IFMA Spain, Vicente Redondo, explained that 'facility management' is "a discipline that encompasses various areas of the company that aim to optimize the portfolio of real estate."
The 'facility management', explained Redondo, includes the study of workspaces, as well as the processes that manage them and the technologies applied in them, with the aim of optimizing them, reducing costs, optimizing the useful life of business assets and improving productivity, with the consequent improvement in the company's income statement.
According to IFMA, the turnover of facility management in Spain stands at 70,000 million euros, including all sectors (hotel, offices, public sector ...). In addition, its use can account for between 20 and 30% of the company's income statement.
For his part, the vice president of IFMA Spain, David Martínez, pointed out that "the ten most productive countries in the world are, curiously, the ten countries that invest the most in 'facility management'". In addition, he endorsed the quality of the professionals who are dedicated to this activity that in other countries has its own university degree.
