International. Aena recently announced that The Murcia-San Javier Airport renewed traditional lighting equipment for new LED technology devices that reduce CO2 emissions, energy consumption and maintenance costs.
With the replacement of the lighting of the Murcia-San Javier Airport by luminaires with LED technology, it is intended to improve its energy efficiency.
The new elements (more than 800 between spotlights, tubes, projectors) have been placed in all the facilities of the terminal building and illuminate an area of more than 11,000 square meters. They are equipped with LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology, which is more efficient given the longer life of the devices, which generate more light and are non-polluting (they do not contain mercury).
The annual energy saving is more than 126,000 kWh and avoids the emission of more than 20 tons of CO2 per year. The installation of this new lighting system is part of the Airport's commitment to improving energy efficiency and sustainable and environmentally friendly management.
Proof of this commitment is the Integrated Quality and Environmental Management System that the airport has, certified by AENOR in accordance with the international standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, which guarantee the protection of the environment and compliance with legislation in this area.
