Costa Rica. Seeking to become the first chain of fast food restaurants friendly to the environment in the country, KFC recently presented an energy plan with which it aims to reduce, minimum, by 20% the consumption of kilowatts.
To achieve energy savings and as part of the pilot plan, the food chain monitored in its buildings the air conditioning, refrigeration, lighting and kitchen equipment in three formats of its restaurants.
As a result of monitoring and an analysis process, the company achieved the reduction of gas, oil and maintenance of the equipment.
"This saving means an annual reduction of more than 420 metric tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to planting 10,928 trees and letting them grow for 10 years, or it is similar to 200 compact cars that have a distance of 22 km / day stop circulating daily," said Isidro Perera, general manager of KFC.
Two weeks ago, restaurants began implementing savings measures in all restaurants. It is expected that by next October the savings results will be effective in 100% of the brand's restaurants.
