The report highlights the factors that will most critically affect the future of work, demonstrating how an optimal workplace experience is key to increasing companies' productivity and ultimately achieving greater employee engagement and engagement.
With robotics and artificial intelligence increasingly integrated into workplaces and everyday life, the trends identified by Sodexo show the various ways in which the development of human intelligence, individual and collective, will guide the impact of technology on people's lives.
"By understanding and anticipating these trends, we can more effectively help our clients plan what lies ahead, experimenting and implementing human-centric, experience-based solutions," explains Sylvia Metayer, CEO, Worldwide Corporate Services segment.
In this sense, the report 'Global Workplace Trends 2018' focuses on seven interconnected themes with a general common thread: the need for collective intelligence in all areas of the workplace.
Preparing for Generation Z
2017 has been the first year in which the younger generation has fully entered the world of work. "With high expectations about flexibility and the use of new technologies, this generation is , according to Sodexo – reconfiguring for everyone the way of working in the company"
Shaping the workplace through the Internet of Things
Work environments that incorporate the Internet of Things constitute "an opportunity to operate and collaborate more efficiently," according to the report, since it "helps improve the comfort of physical spaces and flexibility, as well as precision in processes."
Create emotionally intelligent work environments
Emotional intelligence has become a core competency for any leader in an organization. The workplace itself can be, as experts point out, "emotionally intelligent", allowing people to display in it the full spectrum of their emotions, and "aligning motivation with their most fundamental needs".
Reinventing resources for the sharing economy
The most advanced organizations are redefining their business models and supply chains. The goal is, in Sodexo's view, to "reap the benefits of the sharing economy." In this way, many resources that people rely on at the individual level can be incorporated into business processes.
Boosting gender equality
Companies are examining the barriers that are limiting women's advancement, in order to implement a cultural transformation led by inclusive leaders. "Only in this way will they be able to ensure a work environment sensitive to differences and with a fair gender balance at all levels of the organization," reveals the Global Workplace Trends 2018 study.
Promoting Talent Management 3.0
Companies are increasingly aware that by improving the employee experience they manage to increase performance and profits. Therefore, the Talent Management 3.0 approach brings together all the technologies and solutions available (in training, recognition, well-being, etc.) to "transform the work experience into a life experience".
Incorporate employees into the corporate social responsibility strategy
Employees have become a key part of companies' efforts for sustainability and corporate responsibility. "Now it is essential that they give them a voice that allows them to feel fulfilled in their social and environmental concerns," they point out from Sodexo, who also indicate that "this will help to jointly build a better future for all."
