Colombia. For the first time since its entry into the Dow Jones Global Sustainability Index, Grupo Bancolombia ranks first among financial institutions in the world.
"We are very proud to be the most sustainable bank in the world, as it is the result of doing business with shared value for society. Sustainability is part of the DNA of the decisions we make every day, always looking for people to live positive experiences with us," said Juan Carlos Mora, president of Grupo Bancolombia, in a statement upon receiving the result revealed by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index
On this occasion, 201 banks were invited and 133 were evaluated. 27 entered the index and Grupo Bancolombia ranked first reaching a score of 87 out of 100, which means that the performance is better than that of all the banks that were part of this evaluation.
To achieve this, the organization deepened the sustainable business model and green financing for companies and SMEs, as well as fundraising vehicles with the second green bond issued in 2018.
"We are convinced that as a bank we are a transforming agent of society and that we must accompany the needs of people, SMEs, companies and governments, structuring integral solutions that accompany economic growth on the principles of sustainable development. Today we are more than 22,000 proud and committed collaborators to provide a more sustainable and humane bank for the country," said President Mora.
