International. Sodexo, a world leader in Quality of Life services, for the fourteenth consecutive year maintains its status as the highest rated company in its industry according to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).
The company scored highest in this industry in several areas, including: local impact of operations, human capital development, and management systems and environmental policies.
"We are honored to once again be recognized as the leaders in our industry," said Neil Barrett, Senior Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Sodexo Group. "This speaks volumes about the efforts of our 460,000 employees around the world, who work with our customers in support of their sustainability agenda. Sodexo's achievement, once again, illustrates our commitment to making a positive impact on people's Quality of Life, contributing to the communities where we operate and leaving a healthy planet for all."
Through its Better Tomorrow 2025 corporate responsibility plan, Sodexo is concentrating its efforts on sustainability, focusing primarily on three areas:
- Work with small local businesses and contribute to their economies through the Partner Inclusion Program, which by 2025 aims to deliver €10 billion in business value to local entrepreneurs and supply providers. Sodexo delivered €1.9 billion in business value in 2017 to thousands of local companies around the world, which helped build capacity, implement standardized processes and support their access to global markets.
- Promote gender balance with the goal of having at least 40% women among its senior leaders by 2025. Research has shown that gender-balanced teams stand out more than less diverse ones. Studies conducted by Sodexo have shown that teams that have a male/female ratio between 40% and 60%, deliver better financial performance, greater employee engagement, brand awareness and customer retention.
- Fight waste by engaging with customers and supply providers to provide innovative solutions to manage food waste by launching the WasteWatch program powered by LeanPath. This program, on average, has been proven to reduce food waste by up to 50%. Sodexo's goal is that by 2020, 70% of food sites implement the program and that by 2025 the figure will rise to 100%
