Colombia. Next Thursday, November 22, 2018, Construye Sostenible Medellín will be held, Regional Sustainability Forum event organized by the Colombian Council of Sustainable Construction (CCCS), in alliance with the University of Medellín and the support of Acesco, Arista, Eternit and Pintuco.
The event will discuss the importance of the Fourth Industrial Revolution of Construction characterized by the confluence of three major challenges: assimilate the technological advances developed by the so-called Industry 4.0, assume the change of production, consumption and distribution models from a linear model to a sustainable and responsible circular economy, and effectively face climate change.
The integration of these advances, disciplines and processes, are accompanied by intelligent information analysis that seeks to optimize resources and support the decision-making process through real-time data analysis. For the construction industry, these changes have involved evolving from traditional construction to incorporating into its practices the three aspects of integral sustainability: environmental, social and business and under this approach and consider how the new construction processes will be. Energy efficiency, reduction in resource consumption, less waste generation and the incorporation of renewable energies are some of the new possibilities incorporated into the construction process.
Under this approach, Construye Sostenible Medellín, Regional Sustainability Forum of the Colombian Council for Sustainable Construction (CCCS), presents a strategic and relevant agenda that highlights the role that sustainable construction in the evolution and innovation opportunities it has brought to the construction industry.
As representatives and leaders of the private sector will be present: Jorge Osorio Manager Operational Services PACTIA, María Alexandra Cardona Leader Business Development Colombia GBCI, Esteban Martínez Director of Sustainability GREEN LOOP, Camilo Luengas Technical Leader CCCS, Gloria Isabel Carvajal Teacher and Researcher Faculty of Engineering University of Medellín, Carolina Camacho Coordinator Structuring of Cementos Argos Projects and Gustavo Ríos Director Architecture Studio Gravité Arquitectos SAS.
The agenda of the day includes conferences, panel of experts and case studies, whose main objectives are the following:
Promote the cost-efficient structuring of new housing projects under the concept of integral sustainability (efficiency in the use of resources, social responsibility and the health and well-being of users).
Update on the tools available for the management of real estate developments of high environmental performance.
During the day, experts from the sector will discuss topics on:
Effective management of high-performance real estate developments: Digital and information management tools that strengthen technical development and tend to the interaction of the different specialties in sustainable construction processes.
Infrastructure, housing and sustainable habitat: Initiatives to boost business opportunities from sustainability in infrastructure projects and the transformation of housing construction in the country towards sustainability, in alignment with national green growth policies and management tools aimed at the circular economy, housing and the construction of sustainable communities.
Additionally, a complementary activity will be held on Friday, November 23 at the Conconcreto Innovation Center, Printer 3 D and Casa Origami where attendees will have a guided tour of the 3D Housing Prototype.
