Mexico. The company Energy Mexico has begun the change of sodium vapor luminaires for LED in the municipality of Tehuacán, so it is expected that in a year with the savings that will be made in the payment of energy to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), the 50 million pesos that will be applied in these works will be covered, said the Secretary of Municipal Public Services, Luis Cortés Reyes.
Tehuacán will be part of the MayaTehuacán Train project, national headquarters of SNTE GamesDetalló that the replacement of public lighting began in the Bella Vista subdivision, where these new lamps give an illumination of 20 lumens, which is 2 and a half times more than those of sodium vapor and allow a saving in consumption of 40 percent to those that were previously had.
He explained that the change of lamps will be made according to the sectors that CFE has contemplated, which are 20 in Tehuacán, in order that as these are delivered to the parastatal, energy consumption will be reduced and especially the payment that is currently around 4 million 500 thousand pesos per month.
According to the work plan that has been drawn up is that from next week, that the change of luminaires is officially given, around 300 per day will be replaced, in order that in about 4 months the more than 18 thousand lamps that the municipality has are already led is achieved .
He indicated that these actions will allow to combat the insecurity that is registered in the city, because since there are no longer dark areas, criminals will no longer be able to use these sites.
He added that when the administration began, 60 percent of the public lighting was not working, that is, 12,000 luminaires, which was harmful to the municipality because the same amount was paid to CFE, despite the fact that most of the lamps were off.
