International. A report on the use of social media or online channels by companies or construction firms indicated that 82% of companies involved in the commercial or residential building construction market are actively using social media to promote, showcase or support their company or company.
The AIM report indicates that during a period when it is not easy for construction professionals to physically interact with others or be "social," the use of these social media channels becomes even more critical. While most companies/firms in the building construction industry use social media, research indicates that more architectural and interior designer firms use social media than facilities and engineering companies.
"This research was conducted in January 2021, when COVID-19 was still disrupting the world and vaccines were on the rise," says Patty Fleider, director of research at AIM. "Professionals turned to these channels even more than before COVID-19. It remains to be seen whether they will stay or not, but this should give marketers a good idea of who is using what."
For this study, AIM surveyed architects, interior designers, engineers, and facility managers. The survey was conducted online in January 2021. The overall response was 153 completed surveys. The full snapshot report can be downloaded for free on http://intrln.com/socialmedia.
Not only do businesses use social media or other online platforms to promote their company or showcase their work, but they also use them to network with customers, suppliers, associates, and colleagues. In addition, social media can be useful for finding new customers or for targeting and recruiting new employees.
