International. The Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) division of Johnson Controls was acquired by the real estate services company CBRE, according to information published in different international media. The transaction finalized at the end of last March includes a payment of 1,475 million dollars, in addition to raising several strategies of work and long-term cooperation.
It is worth noting that the GWS division is responsible for providing Corporate Real Estate and energy management services in 55 countries and has more than 16,000 employees, in addition to generating $4 billion in revenue last year and $95 million in operating profit. This acquisition will increase the amount of real estate and corporate facilities managed by CBRE to 5 billion square feet.
As for the agreements established for the transaction, we are working together for 10 years to investigate energy management solutions for cost reduction and improvement of customers' work environments. Similarly, both companies committed to be mutually preferred suppliers, that is, CBRE will be JCI's supplier for all Real Estate services and Johnson Controls will in turn be in charge of providing CBRE with air conditioning systems, automation, among other systems.
